We are looking for some help primarily at our St. Anne’s and Blackpool projects however there are other opportunities throughout the county that we will consider for anyone interested.
Below I listed a description of our charity and the roles of volunteers:
In May 2007 addaction became the principle drug service provider for criminal justice drugs work across Lancashire. Our program aims to offer assessment, treatment and support services for individuals who identified with substance misuse and who are currently within the criminal justice system. Services are accessible at point of arrest, courts, on community sentence and post prison discharge.
Roles of volunteers
Volunteers are viewed as equal and valuable partners in service delivery and participate within all levels of service provision.
Volunteer Project Workers
To work alongside (shadow) and support permanent addaction project workers in the assessment, support and throughcare of clients in the criminal justice system who identify with substance misuse issue/problems.
Induction
Applicants should acquire and complete an application form, supply two appropriate references and will have to undergo an enhanced CRB check. Applicants will also have to undergo an informal interview.
Training
All applicants will undergo induction training which includes an overview of addaction the organisation, addaction policy and procedure, addaction services, dual diagnosis/ mental health awareness (overview), boundaries, confidentiality, perceptions and stereotypes, active listening, empowerment/ disempowerment, personal safety, communication, anti discriminatory practice and support options for volunteers.
