BusinessVolunteers wanted for Young Enterprise North West

Home

Young Enterprise North West brings enterprise education to young people throughout the region from the ages of 4 to 25 years, teaching them about the world of work, helping them set goals, plan their future and learn the skills necessary to succeed in a fast changing world. Young Enterprise brings the real world to the classroom and enables the students to open their minds to their potential. Through a diverse portfolio of programmes Young Enterprise North West can improve employability, entrepreneurial and life skills, whilst making a real difference to the lives and potential of our young people.

Our Programmes focus on topics such as entrepreneurship, business, personal financial literacy, work-related life skills and employability skills.

In order to grow Young Enterprise North West recruits and trains volunteers from the private sector to help deliver the programmes. The business volunteer provides students with a real world business role model and using the skills they have  acquired throughout  their working life can demonstrate to the students  the value of enterprise on the basis of first hand experiences.

Young Enterprise North West delivers a wide range of programmes across Lancashire ranging from one day classroom based activities to programmes running over the duration of one academic year enabling young people to run their own live company.  Without the support of local business volunteers young enterprise would cease to have such an impact on the young people involved with our activities.

We are currently looking for business volunteers to work with young people aged 14 - 19 for approximately 1 hour a week (usually after school), advising and supporting them with their task of running a successful company.  The students will each take on the role of a director within their company producing and selling a product or service.  Throughout the year the students will have various opportunities to compete against other companies cumulating in Area, North West and UK Final Competitions - with the UK winner competing in Europe.

We are currently looking for advisers in the following Blackpool Schools:

  • Beacon Hill Business and Enterprise College
  • Bispham Arts College
  • Collegiate High School
  • St Georges C of E High School
  • Fleetwood Sports College
  • Highfield Humanities College
  • Millfield Science & Performing Arts College

Volunteering with Young Enterprise can be an effective and inexpensive professional development tool for your organisation.  The volunteer role can develop leadership and client-service skills that benefit both the employee at all levels in all companies.
